DAUFUSKIE BLUES

Booklet about the history of

I had the honor of working alongside the talented women behind Daufuskie Blues, a shop and studio dedicated to creating exquisite textiles, hand-dyed in natural indigo.

They wanted a booklet that visitors to the island and the shop could browse, take home, and keep, a beautiful introduction to this ancient and storied craft.

EDITORIAL DESIGN

INDIGO IS MORE THAN A COLOR. IT'S A PROCESS, A MYSTERY, A TRADITION.

IT STAINS OUR HANDS, SHAPES OUR PATTERNS, AND CONNECTS US TO HISTORY.

Designing the layout started with structure, a custom grid to give the booklet a strong foundation. Then I picked the typefaces that reflected and balanced the high-end craft with the simple, unhurried lifestyle of Daufuskie Island. A deep indigo blue runs throughout, immersing the reader in the color that defines everything this studio makes.

I also handled all photography for this project and wrote the content from scratch.
